Peggy Huddleston’s Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster

One hour individual workshops given by Wendy Chabot, M.D. to prepare patients for surgery, using the methods developed by Peggy Huddleston and presented in her book and CD Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster.

One-hour workshop includes the book, Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster and its companion Relaxation CD. Individual Workshop is $125. Workshop is given in person or by phone. A family member or friend may accompany you for free.

6 Weeks to Healthier Sleep. Restorative sleep is one of the pillars of optimal health and well-being. Yet, 30 % of adults experience insomnia, difficulty falling or staying asleep.  Sleep medications may provide temporary relief but potential side effects include daytime drowsiness, tolerance, and rebound insomnia.

Behavioral and relaxation therapies have longer lasting beneficial effects and are considered first line therapies by sleep experts.

With 25 years experience as a primary care physician, evaluating and counseling patients with sleep difficulties, Wendy is pleased to offer 6 Weeks to Healthier Sleep.  The curriculum is founded on the evidence based “Conquering Insomnia Program” developed at Harvard and U Mass Medical Schools.

Meditation is Medicine at The Yoga Barn
Winter/Spring 2013, Ongoing
Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00 PM

This introductory series on meditation will meet on Wednesdays to explore various forms of meditation so that participants may find the technique they find the most enjoyable and beneficial.  Feel free to join the class regularly or on a drop-in basis.  The cost is $17 as a drop-in or $14 per class with Yoga Barn prepaid 10 class card.

The first meeting of each month Wendy will give a brief presentation highlighting the health benefits of a regular practice of meditation.  This will be followed by a 30 minute guided meditation.  The remaining Wednesdays we will explore various forms of meditation.  Please feel free to call with any questions, 413 687-5510.

 Healthy Sleep Seminar                                                                                              Martha’s Vineyard Hospital Health Fair                                                          Saturday, March 16, 10 AM

Please visit me at the MVH Annual Health Fair from 8 AM to 12 Noon.  At 10 AM I will give a presentation on Heathy Sleep, how to improve the quality and quantity of sleep using non-medication, lifestyle and relaxation approaches.

Please join me at the Edgartown Council on Aging for a discussion of Healthy Sleep.  We will explore the mental and physical health benefits of a good night’s sleep, the changing nature of sleep as we age, lifestyle tips to improve sleep, and non-medication approaches to insomnia.

Healing With Meditation

Summer Sanctuary at The Yoga Barn, W. Tisbury.  Every Tuesday and Thursday ongoing, until Thursday, September 13,  3:30 to 5:00 PM.  Every Tuesday I will give a presentation on the documented health benefits of a daily practice of meditation, yoga and/or gentle breathing exercises (pranayama) . This will be followed by Q&A and a 15-20 minute guided meditation. Every Thursday we will practice a variety of different meditation techniques in 20-30 minute segments so that participants may find the technique they find most enjoyable and beneficial.  Feel free to join us for one week or every week over the summer months.  Please call me at 413 687-5510 if you would like more information.

Friday, December 7, 5:30-7:00 PM, I will be leading the FREE Community Class at The Yoga Barn.  Please join us to de-stress from the work week as we practice meditation, breathing exercises and gentle yoga followed by a 20 minute body scan meditation.

    Hi Wendy,

    I just wanted to introduce myself. I found your website when I was exploring. I just got the first PhD in Mind-Body Medicine in the nation this week! I’ve been working on it for the past 3.5 years. I am also a LCSW and trying to decide what direction to take this. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and inquire how your practice is going in MBM.
